Travel in Style: my flight essentials

Howdy fellas! I’ve just landed on the idyllic island of Saint Martin after a 9-hour long flight and I’m sooo happy to be here! Of course because of the beautiful scenery, crazy blue sea and Instagram-worthy white beaches, but also a little bit because I can finally set foot on land again 😉 I love flying to cool destinations, but the appeal is more in the destination and not so much in the journey – I’ve never flown more than 4 or 5 hours straight, so this particular journey to the Caribbean was quite the new challenge for me. The flight itself was probably the best I’ve ever experienced (those awesome first class seats + neverending flow of champagne might have something to do with that), although I was kind of nervous beforehand.

Packing a suitcase for a week-long stay seems easy, but when you’re traveling with pro blog buddy Paulien, you want to bring as much clothing options as possible. I’m pretty sure we’ll be shooting loads of outfits here! Not only my luggage but also packing my carry-on was something I needed to think about: what do I need on a 9-hour flight? My laptop, camera, iPhone, chargers, chewing gum, facial mist (which was confiscated at customs – oops!) and some magazines all made the cut, but then I thought: ehhm I need to be comfortable myself. So the age-old question arose: what do I wear?

An oversized cardigan doubles as a blanket when you take a nap. I also packed a large scarf in my bag because I tend to always get freezing cold on planes. As a roomy bag to fit magazines, chargers, laptop and an emergency change of clothes I opted for my brand new Balenciaga, which also stores my huge Céline sunglasses to hide the jetlag. These For all Mankind skinnies are super stretchy and comfy, but I did pack and changed into my Nike joggers to sleep in on the plane.
