4 tips on how to dress for your New Year’s Eve party. I mostly steer away from those typical ‘end of the year’ parties, simply because they are not my cup of tea. At the risk of sounding like a Debby downer: I don’t like New Year’s Eve! Something about too much expectation in the air.. But it is a moment worth celebrating, so if you’re going out you better look the part. I dressed up for the occassion in a total Sienna Goodies outfit that you can shop below, right after scrolling down my list of four tips on how to dress for Sylvester Night.

Say yes to the dress.

Now is the time to don your prettiest of party dress, so pull out all the stops and dress up! People tend to go for black, short and thight when it comes to New Year’s Eve dressing, but don’t be like the rest of them darling. Instead, opt for a metallic toned dress and add a boxy jacket or breezy kimono top overneath.

Amp up the sexy but keep your cool.

It will be a long night, so before getting out your plunge dress and 13 cm heels, try to think if you’ll feel at ease in those? If you’ve mastered twerking on platform heels and dubstepping in your bodycon dress, by all means, go for it ! But you don’t want to be the girl in the back who’s constantly pulling at her dress or -oops- flashing everybody. Now is the time to stock up on nipple covers, fashion tape and sole cushions.

Go handsfree.

A beautiful clutch can be the epitome of chic, but is also really easy to lose when the clock strikes midnight and you have to kiss a dozen of strangers. Opt for an easy cross-body bag to keep your hands free; you’ll have more room for a drink or two!

Wear whatever you like.

In the end, the memories you’ll make are far more important than the dress you’ll wear. So if you feel like going out in your sneakers, be my guest! You’ll probably outdance the rest of the crowd when it’s well after midnight.
