Holidaze | The Essentials

There’s nothing I love more than feeling of salt in my hair and rays of sun on my skin – unfortunately both sun and salt can have a damaging effect. I always try to pack light when heading to a holiday in the sun, which never quite works out. One may only need a few breezy dresses and light tops, but never ever think lightly when it comes to the health of your skin and hair. That’s why most of my suitcase-space gets taken in by beauty products. Here’s a peek into my holiday beauty-case.
During my last trip to London I received three small bottles of divine-smelling bath and shower gel at Molton Brown’s. All three of them smell ah-mazing and made me want to use them instantly, but I tried to contain myself and save them for future trips and holidays. When traveling by plane I usually only carry hand luggage (i.e. no more than 100ml of fluid per container) so that’s why I try to save miniature bottles and samples for times like these. Next to the bath & shower gel is a brand new discovery: Caudalie’s Beauty Elixir. It’s said to smoothen the skin and bring out a natural glow, but I mainly love it  because of its refreshing feel and vitalizing scent. I use this every morning to properly wake up, and I’ll be using this pool-side for instant refreshing.

When it comes to tanning, I’m the worst. With my fair skin, red-toned hair and freckled face, I never really get beyond a vaguely sun kissed shoulder. Protecting my skin from damaging rays is high on my priority-list, so I normally use a high number of sun-protection. In the weeks prior to my departure I already soaked up some sun, so that’s why I’m okay with a factor 15 for my body. I use factor 50 for my face though, since premature wrinkles are no fun. I recommend the Organic Sun Care from BioSolis and the Soleil Divin range by Caudalie for reliable sun care. My hair is muy importante to me, so I try to take good care of it when on vacation. I just picked up a bottle of Garnier Fructis Nutri Repair 3 shampoo (great smell, good value) and will treat my locks to some Divine Oil for extra nurture.

Not really an item that comes to mind when thinking beauty products, but how important are a good pair of sunnies? I’ll be debuting my newest pair of Ray Ban wayfarers in France – these are the classic Wayfarers (RB2140) in a size 54 which I ordered off of SmartBuyGlasses. A size bigger than the ones I normally wear, so perfect to protect my face from the sun / camouflage hang-overs / hide from the paparazzi.

No matter where I’m traveling to, there’s always a can of Batiste dry shampoo in my luggage. Perfect for times when you can’t wash, or just don’t feel like it. This scent is particularly fit for summer days, as it smells of coconuts. Holy grail, this one!
