Finally gotten around to uploading a bunch of our Barcelona pics. I got so many great tips on where to eat, sleep, chill and tan, and we discovered some pretty great places ourselves that I want to share as well. Scroll down for an overload of personal pictures from our lovely week-long stay in our favourite Catalonian city + see our tips on where to go for lunch, dinner and the best tan.

barca-eatRosa Negra: grab lunch at this cosy Mexican restaurant and get two dishes and a drink for €9. I had the chicken fajitas with guacamole and they were delish!

1000 Montaditos: with different spots all over town, you’ll be sure to find a 1000 Montaditos near you. There was one right in front of our hotel, and we hung out on the sun terrace almost every day. Order a major serving of different tapas on Wednesday and Sundays, EVERYTHING is €1!

Tosca: a hip tapas bar right off of Via Laietana. Boyfriend went for the meat platter with serrano, salami and parma, and I opted for some chicken wings, montaditos with salmon and cream cheese and a delicious mini lasagna with vegetables. Cosmopolitans for 3 euros!

Luiza: a great setting for a cosy night. It was busy when we got there sans reservation, but after hanging out at the bar for a bit, our table was ready. Great Italian food!

Bar Lobo: down the road from Luiza, there is Bar Lobo. We went here bc Paulien recommended it, and we sure liked the place! A table outside, amazing pan tomate and a nice variation of tapas to choose from.

Buon Appetito: decent Italin food – if you order pasta the portions are kinda small, but we saw this at almost every restaurant we went, so it might just be a Catalonian thing. Friendly staff, you’ll end up paying more if you choose to sit out on the terrace.

barca-seeDiscover the best shopping spots.

Passeig de Gracia: Chanel! Vuitton! Manolo! Although you probably won’t really be shopping in these high-end stores, this street is a must to stroll through. You’ll find a Bershka, Stradivarius and other highstreet stores as well.

Portal de l’Àngel: the Oxford Street of Barcelona: Zara, Pull&Bear, Blanco, Stradivarius, Oisho, Womensecret, Massimo Duti…. Oh and a huge-ass H&M.

Carrer Tallers: vintage galore! For cute dresses and stand-out blouses, head over to Kling.

Carrer de Pelai: There’s an actual TOPSHOP right off of place Catalunya – oh joy! Go right around the corner and down the stairs for beauty walhalla Sephora.

I didn’t do that much shopping – I was off-duty, you know. Because it was the bf’s first visit to Barca, we did all the obligatory tourist things: Sagrada Familia, Casa Batlló, La Pedrera, La Boquería, Plaça d’Espanya, La Rambla, and Camp Nou. After you’ve ticked all of that off your list, head on over to Montjuïc for the best views over the city.

dogsanddresses Barcelona 18982-2barca-swimPart of Barcelona’s appeal is that it is city ànd sea, architecture ànd beaches, art ànd jellyfish… I spotted one big jellyjellyfishfish about 2 meters from where Cédric was sitting and casually said: hey,a jellyfish. Dude was out of the water FAST 😉 So apart from being carefull about not being stung, the beach is one of the best places to hang around. It can easily get crowded though, so don’t expect any “The Beach”-like scenes. The last day we went to the beach, the water was actually ridiculously dirty – clothes, plastic bottles, whoknowswhatelse was floating on the shore. But the other days, the sea was perfectly fine to swim in.

Don’t go to Barceloneta beach but get off at metro stop Ciutadella’. You’ll pass the Casino on your way to the beach. Don’t go in – I momentarily lost my mind at the roulette table. And my money.

Don’t try this at home kids: we kinda scammed our way up to the rooftop pool of a fancyschmancy hotel on our final day in the city – I know, I know, how very rude, but it was hella hot outside and we had nowhere to go to wash away all that beach sand. So we walked into a certain elitist hotel, acted like we belonged and tudum – the elevator brought us to the exclusive rooftop terrace and pool. It was a good day. We promised eachother that we’ll book a room at said hotel next time we go back!

This hostal/hotel is located right on Urquinaona square, which is a 3 minute walk from Plaza Cataluyna. No breakfast buffet or room service, but the place comes with its own kitchen, free coffee and tea and laptops with WiFi free of charge.
